Blake Anderson Recruiting Update

    Anderson has two offers on the table and interest from several other colleges.

    "Southern Miss and New Orleans have offered me, as well as a lot of junior colleges," said Anderson. "Ole Miss has been looking at me. South Carolina has been sending me some stuff. Alabama, Auburn and Mississippi State are looking at me."

    He received his first scholarship offer from Southern Miss.

    "Southern Miss offered me right before the 2012 school year started," said Anderson. "(Mississippi) State has been looking at me since I was a 9th grader. And the other SEC schools started talking to me after the 2012 summer."

    Although not quite ready to commit, Anderson is keying on two in-state schools at the moment.

    "I would definitely like to stay in-state," he said. "I would like to sign with either Southern Miss or Mississippi State. And I've always loved Mississippi State. I have been coming to football and baseball games at Mississippi State for a long time."

    He talked a little more in-depth about both schools.

    Mississippi State - "I like the coaches, the facilities, the tradition. And it's not too far from home."

    Southern Miss - "I like the coaches at Southern Miss."

    Anderson talked about his strengths as a catcher.

    "My strengths as a catcher are my defense, my throwing, controlling the game and calling pitches," he said. "My best pop time is a 1.78 and my normal pop time is a 1.81 to 1.82."
