Athletic Davis Commits To Auburn

Athletic Marcus Davis is expected to get a shot to play inside receiver on the next level after choosing the Auburn Tigers on Sunday.

Delray Beach, Fla.—It didn't take speedy athlete Marcus Davis from American Heritage to find his home once he got on the campus at Auburn University for his official visit. With offers from Boston College, Duke, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, West Virginia, and several other schools, in the end the 5-10, 180-pounder said Auburn just felt like home for him.

"I loved it up there," Davis says. "From the moment I got up there it was family. I'm committed to Auburn.

"I liked just sitting down with the coaches and looking over the offense at the position I would be playing," he adds. "From the day I got there it was just the family and spirit around the place."

Throwing for 827 yards and 14 touchdowns playing quarterback for his high school team that features Notre Dame running back commitment Greg Bryant, Davis added 826 yards and seven touchdowns on the ground as well. Davis has the athleticism to play another position and that is exactly why several new colleges have become very interested him late in the recruiting process.

Auburn was one of those with Dameyune Craig leading the recruiting charge for the talented athlete. Being recruited as a wide receiver by the Tigers, Davis says he's looking forward to playing for Craig when he gets on campus.

"It's real big," Davis says of Craig's impact. "The first time I met him he came off as a cool dude. It seems like I have known him forever. He knows a lot about the game because he was a quarterback as well. I'm excited about getting coached by him."

Being recruited as a receiver by the Tigers, but also as a cornerback by several other schools, Davis says he's excited about the opportunity to stay on offense.

"I just feel like they'll give me the opportunity I have been waiting for," Davis says. "I'm just ready to come in and work. When I saw the offense and the position I would be playing I fell in love with the offense."

Originally Davis says he planned to visit Arkansas next weekend, but he notes that he's done with recruiting and 100 percent committed to Auburn.

Davis becomes Auburn's 19th commitment for the 2013 class. The full list can be found here:
