With Signing Day less than a week away, Missouri assistant coach Pat Washington, paid a visit to Carver High School in Montgomery (AL) to check in on 2013 safety prospect Shaun Rupert 6’1” 190. Afterwards, Rupert spoke to ShowMeMizzou.com about Coach Washington’s visit, and he updated us on his recruitment. “Coach Washington stopped by my school today,” said Rupert. “It went good.” He said that he and Coach Washington talked about a lot of things, but mostly about Missouri. Last weekend, Rupert visited Northern Illinois. This week, he indicated that Northern Illinois is no longer in the picture for him.
Rupert remains verbally committed to Arkansas State, but the talented defensive back confirmed that he’ll be taking an official visit to Missouri this weekend (2-01-13). He has also confirmed that he has a Missouri offer.
Rupert indicated that his final decision will likely come down to Arkansas State, Southern Mississippi, or Missouri. He said that Missouri is definitely his favorite.
As I spoke with Rupert, it became clear to me that his visit to Missouri this weekend is for the purpose of “making sure”. He said that he will “most likely” commit to Missouri this weekend. He and his mother are coming to Missouri to confirm with their own eyes what they expect to see.
Rupert indicated that if he and his mother like what they see on his Missouri visit, that he’ll “probably” commit to the Tigers. He wants to check it out and make sure.
Rupert can play either safety or corner, and he has been a return man, as well. He tested last summer at a couple of camps, where he posted a 4.4 forty and a 38” vertical.
“I look good in black and gold,” Rupert said with a laugh. “Yes sir, I do.”
