Mackenro Alexander Chooses Auburn

Immokalee safety prospect Mackenro Alexander announced on signing day he wants to play at Auburn.

Immokalee, Fla.--Mackenro Alexander, a three-star safety, plans to sign with Gus Malzahn's Auburn football team.

"Auburn is incredible," Alexander said after signing his scholarship papers. "I loved my official visit up there. I felt at home. I like the atmosphere and that I can play early.

"I like the education they offer and that I can graduate from a great school," he added. "When I got to Auburn I just felt like it was home. The right place. It feels great. I love it."

Auburn also recruited his brother, four-star cornerback Mackensie Alexander, who chose Clemson.

Recruited by Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Rutgers and others, 6-0, 190-pound Mackenro Alexander played linebacker as a senior for an Immokalee High team that lost by a single point to Godby High of Tallahassee in the state championship game.

"I had been playing safety, but I was a little faster and a little more physical than some of the linebackers we had," he said. "My coaches wanted me to play linebacker and I feel like it worked out pretty well."

In addition to Auburn, where he visited last weekend, he took official visits to Mississippi State, Kentucky and West Virginia.
