Martin Getting Back In The Swing

Southern Miss made its presence felt in-state in the class of 2013. Now Coach Monken and his staff have big plans to continue to build on what they have started and hope to do well again in the state of Mississippi. Now that Devoriae Martin is fully recovered, he's hoping to make waves with Coaches from the next level.

Devoriae Martin suffered a tough injury back in May of last year when he tore his ACL. Working hard to get back in the swing all of last season, he was finally able to get his full clearance to go a few weeks ago.

"I've been playing basketball, we were up in Jackson tonight," he said in an interview with

"I feel real good now. The doctor in January gave me a full 100% release, and now its just about me feeling confident in what I am doing. Its in good condition now, and I just have to continue to get in shape and get my leg stronger."

Martin said that his injury is not hampering his recruiting to this point.

"I've already been to LSU's junior day, and I have Mississippi State, Ole Miss, and Louisiana coming up," he said.

"I also hope to hear from Southern Miss. I've been hearing from the Cajuns the most, and they are real close to offering me. Ole Miss has been talking to me a lot too."

Martin said he has been projected by coaches as a running back at the next level. "I know I need to work most on me picking up blitzing linebackers," he said. "That is something the coaches want me to work on as I prepare to play at the next level."

He is currently 5'10, 185, and will be timed at 100% this summer in the 40.
