"It went real good," Hamilton says. "I enjoyed meeting the new coaching staff and just spending some time with the different coaches and catching up with them."
Making a trip over two weeks ago for a basketball game on the Auburn campus, Hamilton talked with Coach Gus Malzahn and assistants Rhett Lashlee and Rodney Garner. He says this time around he had the opportunity to sit down with defensive coordinator and linebacker coach Ellis Johnson and it proved to be a good thing.
"It was a lot different," Hamilton says. "I really wanted to meet the new staff and sit down and talk with Coach Johnson and some of the other coaches. It was a good step for me. I really like him. He's a real good coach and I thought highly of him. We connected. It was a good time meeting him face to face."
With offers from all over the country, Hamilton will have plenty of schools to choose from when the time comes to make his decision. Planning to announce a list of finalists before picking his school prior to his senior season, the 6-1, 225 Hamilton notes that Auburn is in a good spot for him at the moment.
"We'll see whenever I make my decision, but they have a good spot," Hamilton says. "I'm not sure when I'll make a decision, but I'll probably come out with some favorites soon.
"Auburn, Clemson, Alabama, Tennessee and UCLA are right up there for me," Hamilton adds. "Right now it feels good, but when it comes down to choosing one of them it's going to be hard because all of them are going to be coming after me hard."
