Green Enjoys Early Interest

Marcus Green was sort of a jack of all trades for the Vikings of North Pontotoc last season. Green had nearly 1,000 yards receiving and was his team's leading rusher with 461 yards. Green found the endzone 22 times in one fashion or another. The talented slot receiver is ready to serve notice that he is one of his state's top football players.

"I have been getting a lot of mail from Ole Miss and Mississippi State," said Green. "I have gotten some letters from Oregon and Yale and some junior colleges, but I am probably getting the most mail from (Mississippi) State."

Green has not made the college rounds so far this year, but he plans to get out and about a bit in the coming weeks.

"I am going to Ole Miss for their junior day on April 13th," said Green. "I know I am going there for a camp and I probably going to (Mississippi) State for a camp on June 20th."

In addition to being a skilled receiver, Green has has shown his talents in the defensive secondary.

Green's versatility and willingness to play on either side of the football make him an extremely attractive option.

"I am willing to play whatever gets me on the field," said Green. "I don't really have a preference. I just want to do what is best for the team.

"I will play offense, defense or special teams. I just want to be able to contribute."

So far college coaches have been a little coy about the possibility of an early offer, but Green is taking it all in stride.

"Right now, we're all just sort of feeling each other out," said Green. "They have all seen my highlight video, but they haven't had the chance to see me in person yet.

"I feel like once they all get a chance to see what I can do in camp that things will pick up."

With the spread offense taking hold in the state of Mississippi, Green appears to be hitting the talent pool at the right time.

"I feel like I will probably play in the slot in college, but I am open to whatever," said Green. "I want to go somewhere that I can play and I would like to play early.

"I am looking to go somewhere that has a great academic plan, because academics come first at my house.

"Academics come before football in our family."
