  • Two big sophomores from Many - Garrett Thomas and Jamairous Newton - visited Louisiana Tech over the weekend. Thomas, who holds offers from Michigan and Auburn, is in the running for the state's top 2015 prospect. Newton is a 6-1, 300-pound defensive tackle. Many head coach Jess Curtis is high on both, as well as 2015 OL Hunter Dubois.

  • Three-star RB Sione Palelei (East Ascension) is visiting Arkansas this weekend. He'll leave from Gonzales on Friday and return on Sunday, according to his father, Matt Palelei. Sione was scheduled to visit Wisconsin this month, but changed plans in order to visit Fayetteville. Dad says the Razorbacks lead...

  • The Texas Longhorns now have two 2014 pledges from St. Augustine, with CB Jermaine Roberts joining DT Courtney Garnett on Mack Brown's commitment list. A third Purple Knight, three-star OL Joseph Paul, is committed to Florida. St. Aug, of course, boasts the nation's No. 1 player in RB Leonard Fournette, who also visited Austin within the past few weeks.

  • Ole Miss and Florida offered 2017 RB/LB Dylan Moses (University Lab). Moses visited the Rebels on Saturday with his parents. On Sunday, he participated in the Memphis NFTC. The 6-1 1/2, 218-pounder clocked a 4.4 shuttle with a vertical of 35-plus inches in Memphis. Florida State and Georgia could be next to offer.

  • Three-star CB Terrence Alexander (John Curtis Christian) ran a 4.4 in the 40-yard dash at Memphis. Northwestern is his most recent offer. Alexander has a 19 on his ACT and is aiming to increase his score to a 21 in order to solidify admission to Stanford or Northwestern.

  • John Curtis safety Mattrell McGraw added offers from Ohio State and California. The Buckeyes signed RB Jonathan Wells out of Curtis in the late 1990s. McGraw is expected in Eugene this weekend to visit Oregon. He'll return home for a visit with LSU before embarking on a West Coast tour that could include UCLA, USC and Arizona.

  • Parkway's Brandon Harris went from unranked to the No. 23 QB in the nation after impressing at the Elite 11 and the Dallas NFTC. Harris was expected in Baton Rouge over the weekend for an LSU visit.

  • Patterson 2016 WR Mykel Jones made a favorable impression on the LSU staff during a visit last week. Jones could be the first in-state player in his class to get a scholarship offer. Florida State is also high on Jones, who likes the Florida Gators as well.

  • Four-star WR Cameron Sims (Ouachita) picked up a Notre Dame offer. Sims, as reported by recruiting analyst John Garcia, has decided to delay his announcement until early next year. He originally planned to commit to Alabama at the Tide's first camp. Garcia says that Sims will likely be a part of Bama's class. No word yet on whether Sims will make his tentatively-scheduled trip to Oklahoma State later this month.

  • Plaquemine DE Davon Godchaux reeled in offers from Florida, Florida State, Nebraska and USC, per recruiting analyst Austin Cooper. The three-star will be at LSU or Alabama this weekend.

  • Covington four-star DL Garrald McDowell was invited to The Opening after performing well in Memphis. McDowell, Godchaux and McGraw all made Chad Simmons' All-Camp Defense, while Gerald Willis was named to the All-Defense Team following the Atlanta NFTC.

  • Catholic-New Iberia 2015 QB Jason Pellerin competed on an even keel with Parkway's Harris at the NUC 5-Star Showcase. Pellerin has tremendous size at 6-4 and 215 pounds.

  • Tulane added its second commitment from South Plaquemines DL Sean Wilson. The Green Wave's staff has also been busy recruiting 2015 prospects, having extended offers to St. Aug WR Stanley Morgan and East Saint John DB Xavier Lewis.

  • Ville Platte TE Kendall Ardoin pulled in his initial offer from Tulane. The 6-6 junior visited Mississippi State earlier this month.
