Washington up to three offers

2016 Huntersville (N.C.) SouthLake Christian running back Robert Washington committed to Mississippi State last November. However, that has not stopped other schools from recruiting the freshman.

A few weeks ago, Robert Washington visited Arizona State. Before leaving, the Sun Devils offered the 2016 running back, joining Mississippi State and Ole Miss.

"It was a great trip," said Washington, "Coach (Mike) Norvell (Arizona State offensive coordinator) told me that they had watched my film and said I fit their system and then they offered."

"My favorite part about the trip was the campus – the campus is beautiful," he said. "The weather is great and the players are down to earth, too."

As for other visits, Washington took a trip to North Carolina this past weekend. He also plans to visit North Carolina State in the near future and Florida State in June. Washington also mentioned possible trips to Notre Dame, UCLA and Syracuse.

For now, Washington's main focus is becoming a better player in the offseason.

"I'm working on my speed and strength," he said. "I've been doing a lot of plyometric drills, speed training and weightlifting. I'm just trying to get bigger, stronger and faster – so I can help us bring home a state championship this year."

The SouthLake star said he remains committed to Mississippi State, but plans to look at all his options.

He finished his freshman season with 89 carries for 1,018 yards and 11 touchdowns. Washington also had close to 150 yards receiving.
