Fields High On NC State

Tallahassee (FL) Godby athlete Tony Fields has NC State ranked high among the schools he's considering. Pack Pride breaks it all down and details where the Wolfpack fits in.

Tony Fields can't identify one school that is far and away his leader but several are standing out ahead of the pack.

NC State, Ole Miss, Michigan State and Louisville are Fields' front-runners with the Wolfpack and Rebels earning special praise when Pack Pride spoke with him.

"I talk to NC State just about every other day. I'm talking to Coach Jackson and Coach White and they're great coaches. They have great experience and it would be an honor to play for them. NC State would definitely be in the top three for me. I would have to say Ole Miss or maybe even Michigan State or Louisville would be up there too."

When it comes to the Pack Fields' interest is mostly there because of the coaches.

He hasn't visited the school but don't expect that to last for long.

"I haven't narrowed down my plans yet but NC State is definitely going to be one of the first places I go. They have a really great coaching staff and they have a good history of putting defensive backs into the NFL. This past year they had two. I'm real excited about NC State," he said.

Ole Miss is recruiting as well as just about any program in the nation these days and that's something recruits like Fields are taking note of. He believes that program is heading in the right direction.

That helps explain why he likes the Rebs so much.

"Ole Miss is just a great program. They've got a good family atmosphere and I think they're going to be a very, very good team these next couple of years."

Michigan State is appealing because of the recent success of their defense and the allure of playing in the Big Ten. He said he would like to visit East Lansing at some point in the near future as well.

The 5-11, 200-pound athlete from Tallahassee (FL) Godby said he will go through his summer schedule and then set official visits. He is rated a three star prospect by
