The Opening: Johnnie Dixon Update

Palm Beach Gardens (Fla.) Dwyer wide receiver Johnie Dixon names a local favorite with plenty of others chasing like Ohio State and Alabama.'s complete coverage of The Opening 2013 presented by NIKE
It's early July and Johnnie Dixon is getting ready for a big month before his fall football camp starts in August. This standout from Palm Beach Gardens (Fla.) Dwyer High School is currently at The Opening. He will soon be home only to find himself road tripping once again.

"I go to Alabama on July 14th through the 17th," Dixon said. "I will also visit Arkansas, West Virginia, N.C. State and Tennessee. It's going to be a busy month for me."

Dixon, 5-foot-11 and 190-pounds, has a leader with a bunch of teams chasing for his signature.

"Miami is my leader," Dixon said. "I love everything about them. They were the first to offer for me and they have been with me since day one. I love the direction Al Golden has that program headed."

One out of state team that has made a great impression with Dixon are the Buckeyes. He visited Ohio State last month.

"It was my first time up there and a great visit," Dixon said. "I had a nice time up there. I like what Urban Meyer is doing with that program and they are getting a bunch of Florida guys. The players are cool and I love the system. I think I can play in any system but that one is good for me."

Dixon says others are in the mix, including his childhood favorite Florida Gators.

"I like a bunch of other schools like Florida," Dixon said. "That was my team. I also like West Virginia, N.C. State, Alabama, Notre Dame, FSU, Alabama and Tennessee."
