MSU scores post commitment

Oliver Black made a verbal commitment to Mississippi State shortly after the second July evaluation period.

Rick Ray picked up his third commitment of the 2013 class late Sunday evening.

Oliver Black, a 6-foot-9 post player out of Jackson (Miss.) Wingfield, pledged to the Bulldogs over interest from a host of SEC programs. Black's travel team coach Marc Rowe confirmed the news.

"He's from Mississippi," Rowe explained. "He took an unofficial visit to Mississippi State in the spring and he liked it. He wants to stay close to his mom so she can see him play."

According to Rowe, Black has had a very good spring and summer circuit.

"He's one of those kids that came out of nowhere," Rowe said.

Black joins Demetrius Houston and Maurice Dunlap to make up MSU's current 2014 recruiting class.
