Fitzgerald arrived in Starkville Friday afternoon and was able to watch the Mississippi State football team practice.
"I got there the day before and watched their walk-throughs," said Fitzgerald, whose high school team was off Friday. "I got to talk to (head) Coach (Dan) Mullen and (assistant) Coach (Les) Koenning a little bit, and (assistant) Coach (John) Hevesy, who is recruiting me."
The next day he watched his first-ever Mississippi State football game in person.
"That was the first Mississippi State game that I have gone too," said Fitzgerald. "I had a great time. I got to hang out with my future roommate, (MSU kicker/punter commit) Logan Cooke (during the game)."
And what he saw during the game was very exciting to watch.
"It was a really great game," said Fitzgerald, about the 62-7 Bulldog victory." Troy came in with a really good passing offense. I didn't know much about their defense but I didn't think (Mississippi State) would put up 60 points on them."
He was impressed with what he saw from the Bulldog offense.
"I like the offense they run with (quarterback) Dak (Prescott)," said Fitzgerald. "I think it is something that they can do with me, too. Dak made some good reads and ran the ball really hard."
He ended his gameday by going into the Mississippi State post-game locker room.
"I got to go into the locker room after the game," said Fitzgerald. "It was fun seeing Coach Mullen cracking jokes and having a good time."
