"Since I committed to Mississippi State, (recruiting) pretty much has settled down," said Black, who participated in the Marc Rowe Exposure Camp this past weekend at Ridgeland (MS) High School. "I have an upcoming visit up there this weekend. It's my official visit. I'm going to see them play LSU."
The Mississippi State coaches keep in contact with Black on a regular basis.
"Mississippi State's coaches call me on a regular basis," said Black. "They tell me to stay focused on my classes in school and work on my game."
There are a couple of things that they specifically want him to work on.
"They want me to work on my ball handling and get a little bigger," said Black, who has gained 10 pounds during the past year and currently weighs 215 pounds
His future head coach, Rick Ray, has told Black he will try him at a couple of positions when he attends Mississippi State.
"From what Coach Ray has told me, he wants me to be a mixture of a small forward and a power forward," said Black.
Black is relatively new to the game of basketball, having played it only a few years.
"I started playing basketball my 8th grade year and I started playing AAU ball my 10th grade year," he said.
He's seen his game improve each year, especially his understanding of the game itself.
"I feel like my knowledge of the game has gotten better," said Black. "I haven't played the game that long, but as the time has gone by, I think I have gotten smarter about the game."
