Hicks described his game, both offensively and defensively.
"On the defensive end I'm a shot-blocker and on the offensive end it depends on who is guarding me," said Hicks. "If they are smaller then me I'll put them in the post. If it's someone who is slower and bigger than me I'll pull them out to the wing and take them off the dribble."
Known more as an inside offensive threat last season, Hicks worked on his outside game.
"I improved my outside game, my jump shot, and my ball-handling," he said. "Last year I was one-dimensional, a straight post game. This year I think I am more versatile."
Several colleges are already showing serious interest in the talented small forward.
"Right now Mississippi State, Alabama, Georgia, LSU, UAB, Arkansas, Penn State, VCU are showing interest in me," said Hicks. "I also think Virginia Tech is showing interest."
Two of the colleges visited his school during the recent evaluation period.
"Mississippi State and Alabama came to my school a couple of weeks ago," said Hicks.
He's not taking the recruiting attention lightly. He understands the importance of the opportunity.
"I just thank God that I'm blessed to have an opportunity that most people my age don't have," said Hicks. "I know that if I continue to work hard even more (colleges) will come."
Thanks to Alabama and Mississippi State coming to see him at his school, Hicks is reciprocating the interest.
"I think I'm going to Alabama on November 9th and I'm also going to be at Mississippi State for their next home (football) game," said the youngster.
