"After long nights of deep discussion and consideration and prayer, I believe the best home for me is Mississippi State University," said Jackson to an excited crowd of friends and family at the Petal High School field house.
On what went into the decision:
"I would definitely have to say my relationship with Coach Dan (Mullen) You know he's a great guy. He came after my parents and I think that was a key thing.
"He is a good guy all the way around.
"The players are great. I talked to them at the Troy game. This is definitely a moment for me and where I came from.
"It definitely means a lot."
On when he felt like MSU was the place for him:
"It's kind of hard to say. I would say around midweek I was thinking State and it was just a feeling I got when I went to the game.
"The cowbells and the fans made that an exciting moment."
On what comes next:
"Taking care of Brandon (applause). It is time to get back to the season and to get back to where we fell short two years ago.
"It's time for us to prove everybody wrong. Petal can compete with anybody.
"It (recruiting) has always been on my mind, but I don't think it ever pulled me off focus of what I have here.
"It is definitely a relief though just to be able to really get out there and cut loose."
On recruiting other players:
"I am going to do the same thing Elijah (Staley) did. He talked to me every now and then.
"I am going to just go out there and talk them.
"You'll know if it's the place for you like I did.
"Not may people had to recruit me, I just had the feeling.
"I would tell other guys to go on their own time. To some extent your family should be involved. They should play a role in your life.
"Make your own decision though."
On the joy of making his decision
"Oh, man. It's been a long time coming. It is something I have looked forward to.
"You know, just thinking about it everyday kind of took a toll on me, but it's definitely been an exciting trip."
On being part of this MSU recruiting class
"I think it was just a blessing to be with those guys this summer. I think Elijah (Staley) is going to be a great quarterback and Dak Prescott is an awesome quarterback in my eyes.
"It's just been a great experience all of the way around."
Jesse's mother Angela on watching her son go through the recruiting process
"It's great. We had many nights with discussions about it when he was younger growing up.
"I used to tell Otis all of the time when we would lay in bed and talk about what a great kid he is.
"That's the most important thing, his personality, his character.
"Just him growing up around it and being around it, he never had a choice (laughter).
"There was some type of ball in his hands all of the time.
"It's really rewarding and it's great.
"I had a great college career and a little time in the pros and now it's all about him.
"When we made this decision, I told him that I bleed black and gold and now he is going to bleed maroon and white, but at the end of the day he's my blood. We're all going to bleed the same."
Jesse's father, Otis, on how his son has handled the recruiting process.
"It's been amazing just watching him grow up and work hard. Now here we are. I am just so proud of him."
Jesse on representing his family and adding to the family legacy.
"It definitely means a lot to me. Just watching my mom play when I was growing up and watching my dad. I just wanted to be like them.
"I had a great coach from the beginning as a role model."
On the Petal coaches and players
"The relationship with the players...there is not a moment I am not around these guys.
"They have had my back from day one since I came to Petal.
"My ninth grade year I had to make a decision if I was going to give up football or play something else.
"Coach Todd (Pinkston) helped me out a lot with that decision.
"He told me to give it a try and then if I didn't like it that there were no hard feelings.
"After that, I just feel in love with him and with the game.
"It's a lot of work. The first two years, it was hard to understand what he was coaching me, but I stuck with it.
"I thank God for bringing Coach (Marcus) Boyles here. It's been an uphill battle since he walked in.
"There is a sense of urgency when he is around and that's a great feeling."
On the level of his commitment:
"I feel very confident with my decision. I feel like this is the place. Every time I go there it's just that special feeling that I get. When I go other places, I don't get that."
