2016 QB gets first offer

When you see Josh White in person, you don't think he is a sophomore. This Peach State quarterback has good size, a live arm, and he has already picked up his first offer...

It was just another Saturday in the fall for Josh White he thought.

The 6-foot-5, 223 pound quarterback out of Marietta (Ga.) Walton has spent most Saturdays on the road the past few months attending college games.

He traveled over to Starkville (Miss.) for the Alabama game and he received some news that made this Saturday not a normal one.

"I got a scholarship offer from Mississippi State before the game," said White. "I was talking with Coach [Les] Koenning (Offensive coordinator/Quarterbacks) and he told me about the offer. We talked about me being there at camp over the summer, he asked me when I was going to become a Bulldog, and things like that too. It was pretty exciting to find out about that offer."

Now White has an offer from the Bulldogs and he has spent time on their campus for a game and for a camp. He also has family not too far away from the MSU campus.

"I have had a good time over at Mississippi State when I have been there. It kind of has that home feeling to me when I am over there. I have family around the Starkville area, my mom is from the Pearl area, and it would be cool to play there near family. I like the coaches too and I am very interested in them."

Mississippi State is just one campus the talented sophomore has spent time on this fall.

He has attended games at Alabama, Auburn, and Clemson as well. He is going to Tennessee this weekend and he is looking at more than just the football team when on these visits.

"I am trying to take it all in," said White. "I am looking at the town to see if it is a place I want to live. I am looking for a place I can be for four years and a place I feel comfortable at living there, how the academics are, the football team, and all of that. It is more than just football for me."

White is set to take over the starting job in 2014 with Louisiana Tech commitment Price Wilson graduating.

He has not had a chance to show all what he can do yet and he knows that.

"It is all about potential for me right now with recruiting. I have a strong arm, I can complete all the passes, and I have a lot of room to improve. I think schools like that about me.

"I am working on improving my feet and trying to fix all the parts of my game that I can this off-season. I think my arm strength is the biggest thing schools like about me right now."

He was surprised by the first offer from Mississippi State, so who could be next?

Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Georgia Miami, and Tennessee are showing a lot of interest right now.

The Bulldog offer has put MSU on top of White's list early on.

"Mississippi State is first on my list because they offered me first. I just like it when I am there too. Alabama and Clemson are up there too."
