Durham unofficially visited Mississippi State for the Alabama game two weekends ago. He was impressed with what he saw from Starkville and the game.
"It was nice," said the talented youngster. "I liked the environment there. Starkville is small but it was nice and tidy. I liked that about it. And it was a lot closer than what I expected it to be. It wasn't that much of a drive."
The atmosphere of the game also impressed him.
"I loved the sold out crowd at the football game," said Durham. "I like playing in front of big crowds. I liked the Dog Walk, too, and the tradition they had. My dad told me that I would be hearing the cowbells all night. When I left the game I was still hearing some cowbells. I liked them because they made it nice and loud."
He also had the opportunity to meet the Mississippi State head coach and defensive coordinator.
"I talked to (defensive coordinator Geoff) Collins and (head) Coach (Dan) Mullen," said Durham. "Coach Collins seemed like a player's coach. He's very likeable and a good coach to the players."
Coach Collins told him they would be recruiting him in the future.
"The coaches said they are going to keep up with me," said Durham. "When we got there, (Coach Collins) said they had seen my film and he said they were going to keep up with me. He told me that I can ball. That made me feel good. Hearing that from an SEC coach made me feel a little better about myself. The SEC is the conference I want to be in, that's for sure."
He likely will have that opportunity based on the schools currently recruiting him.
"I have an offer from Boise State and interest from Texas, Oklahoma, Vanderbilt here recently, Oregon State, a little bit from USC, and Ole Miss, Missouri, Mississippi State, Colorado State and Indiana," said Durham.
