Bulldogs Make it Six for 15

Darrien McNair needed less than 24 hours to make his decision to take Mississippi State up on their offer. The Ocala, Florida prospect had been on the Bulldogs' recruiting radar for a while. Both parties decided it was time to make the courtship a bit more serious. Earlier this evening, McNair made his verbal commitment to Mississippi State.

"Mississippi State offered me yesterday," said McNair. "I was hoping that they would.

"I talked with my coaches and with my mama about everything and I decided to go ahead and commit."

McNair reports that while the offer from the Bulldogs is a new development, their pursuit of him has gone on for some time.

"They had been recruiting me for a while," said McNair. "I went up there and visited the campus and I loved it.

"I liked all of the facilities and the campus.

"The coaches were all real cool and I just felt at home up there."

While the guided tour was important, the head turning event for McNair took place at Davis Wade stadium.

"I went to the game when they played Alabama and I loved how their defense played," said McNair. "I am an emotional guy on the football field, so I feel like I can fit in with their defense.

"They like to play hard and with a lot of emotion and that's what I like to do too.

"I really like how hard their defense plays all of the time and no matter who they're playing."

McNair reports that he has received serious interest from other programs, but that Mississippi State's offer was the first.

"I have had some time to think about what would happen if they ever offered me," explained McNair. "I just felt like it was the right thing for me to go.

"I feel like I can have a good career there."
