What ultimately doomed the Seminoles was their inability to get rebounds. Florida State plays two players over 7-foot tall and five that are 6-foot-9 or above. Being outrebounded, especially on the defensive end, this badly is unacceptable. Duke had more offensive rebounds than the Seminoles had total rebounds 26-24 and were out rebounded by 22 overall. While Duke shot horribly from the field they made eight three-pointers on twenty shots. The Seminoles were called for 29 personal fouls which led to 43 free throw attempts from Duke. They made 34 of them.
Duke led by double digits for over twenty-six minutes of game time and never let it dip below that in the second half. Rodney Hood led the way for the Blue Devils with 18 points and 9 rebounds. He made nine of his eleven free throws. Freshman Jabari Parker finished with a double-double of 14 points and 13 rebounds of which 9 were offensive. Rasheed Sulaimon and Andre Dawkins both finished the game with 11 points.
Florida State was led by Senior Okaro White who finished with 14 points and 8 rebounds before fouling out with two minutes left. Devin Bookert finished with 12 and Montay Brandon finished with 11. The Seminoles only took 6 three pointers this game and made only two of them. Aaron Thomas and Ian Miller, the two leading, scorers for the Seminoles, were held in check all game. Thomas fouled out with just 2 points and Miller was held to 9.
Florida State's next game is on Wednesday January 29th at NC State at 9 P.M.
