"I got an offer from Florida about two weeks ago," said Dear. "That's the latest one, but there have been some other schools showing interest."
Dear said early on that he would really like to stay closer to home.
"I am trying to see where I would fit at Ole Miss," said Dear. "Coach (Derrick) Nix is recruiting me.
"Mississippi State is the main school that is telling me what I want to hear right now and I probably have the best relationship with Coach (Greg) Knox."
Dear reports that he and the Bulldogs' running back coach remain in regular contact with each other.
"I was supposed to go to junior day up there last weekend, but I couldn't make it," explained the four star standout. "Coach Knox has been messaging me and he told me that they missed me up there last weekend, but that he wants me to come to the next one on the (February) 22nd.
"I am planning on going up there for that and that's about all I have planned right now."
The Bulldogs' offensive system is one of the things Dear reports that he likes about Mississippi State.
"I don't feel like anybody can hold me one-on-one," said Dear. "I want to be used sort of like Percy Harvin.
"I feel like it would be best if I get moved around and get in some mismatches.
"I feel like I can always beat the man across from me and I know I can make plays."
No firm time frame has been set for a decision by Dear, though he has talked about waiting to announce on national signing day.
"I am not ready to just say I am leaning anybody's way right now," said Dear. "I am just going to see how things go and then I will make my decision when I am ready.
"Right now, I am just trying to get ready to run track."
