Wright Closing in On SEC Offer?

Kendell Wright spends a lot of time representing the Gentry High School Rams in competition. A skilled basketball and football player, Wright is a big part of things in Indianola. College football appears to be Wright's ticket on the next level. With early interest from the SEC West, Wright may be on the verge of some life changing news.

Kendell Wright profile

"The main schools I am hearing from are Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Arkansas," said Wright after Wednesday's basketball practice. "I have been hearing a lot from Mississippi State lately.

"They want me to come up there this weekend and see the campus and meet all of the coaches.

"I am planning on going over there on Saturday."

Wright reports that he has been in fairly regular contact with a pair of SEC coaches from within his home state.

"I have been hearing from Coach (Derrick) Nix from Ole Miss and Coach (David) Turner from Mississippi State," said Wright. "I get some letters and they send me messages.

"I think Mississippi State might be fixing to offer me.

"They sort of talk like they might."

At 6-5 and nearly 240 pounds, Wright has the ability to play on either side of the ball, but he expects to spend his college Saturdays in the offensive huddle.

"I am going to be playing tight end," said Wright. "I like playing tight end the most, because I like catching the ball and making plays."

Wright reports that he welcomes any offer and that he is open to talk about any opportunity on the college level.
