Autry High on Early Offers

Mississippi State fans are eager to learn who will replace departed defensive end Denico Autry in the starting line up this fall. While it may take another year, the Autry family may have a hand once again on the ground on the Bulldog defensive front wall. Lee Autry, the younger brother of Denico, is one of the top defensive tackles in the Carolinas and the Bulldogs are interested.

"So far I have offers from UNC (North Carolina) and Mississippi State," said Autry. "I am getting interest from NC State, Florida State and Georgia.

"I know some other schools are going to be offering me, probably next month or so."

Autry is taking it all in stride. He believes that he could have a solid college experience even if he never picked up another offer.

"I like North Carolina and Mississippi State," explained Autry. "North Carolina is close to home and I like the coaching staff.

"I like Coach (Keith) Gilmore, the D line coach and I like Coach Kap (Chris Kapilovic) and the head coach, Coach (Larry) Fedora.

"My brother played at Mississippi State. I went to both of the spring games down there when he played and we went to the Auburn game.

"We went to see them play at South Carolina too.

"My brother told me that Mississippi State is on the rise and that they are going to be really good the next few years.

"I like the defensive line coach, Coach (David) Turner too.

"My brother told me what it's like to play for him.

"I sort of grew up cheering for UNC, but I would love to play in the SEC."

Autry reports that academics will play a part in his decision, which could come before he takes a senior snap on the football field.

"I want to get a good education and academics are important to me," said Autry. "I want to get my degree and play for a good football program.

"I would really like to make my decision this summer before my senior year starts, so I can just focus on the season."
