Cane Takes in Bulldog Junior Day

Elias Cane jumped on the Mississippi State recruiting radar during his junior season. The Ezell-Harding standout claimed an early offer from the Bulldogs a few weeks after visiting the Starkville campus for the first time. This past weekend, Cane made a return trip to see the Bulldogs for junior day.

"I had a good visit," said Cane. "I really liked everything over there.

"I went to the Ole Miss game back during the season, but I was late getting there. I didn't get to really see the campus.

"This weekend I was able to really see everything and it was great."

Cane reports that his impressions of all the Bulldogs have to offer were extremely positive.

"Mississippi State has great facilities," said Cane. "I have heard about Alabama's weight room, but so far Mississippi State has the best weight room that I have ever seen.

"That's real important too, because you're going to spend most of your time in the weight room.

"The weight room there is just incredible."

Cane was one of over 150 junior day attendees, but he was able to get some face time with a few of the Mississippi State coaches.

"All of the coaches I talked to where glad that I came," said Cane. "I was able to visit with Coach (Deshea) Townsend after most everybody else left.

"He is talking about me playing nickel.

"They told my mom that I still have a full ride from them, but they want me to come to camp this summer.

"Coach Townsend said that most of the guys they sign are guys who come to camp, so I am planning on doing that."

Cane plans a busy summer once his spring semester is complete and the campus visit invites just keep coming.

"I think the schools that are closest to offering me are Ole Miss, Clemson and Tennessee," said Cane. "Ole Miss just sent me an e-mail and invited me to come and visit them.

"I am not sure when I am going to have time to do that, because I am going to be on the road so much this summer playing 7-on-7.

"We are going to be going to a lot of different schools for camps and tournaments, so I am going to visit some schools then."

As Cane prepares to see what the college football world has in store for him, he reports that Mississippi State is the proverbial top dog for now.

"Mississippi State is my top school," said Cane. "I love all of the facilities and all of the coaches.

"They have a lot of what I am looking for over there."
