"Things went really good," said Dear of Saturday's visit. "I really had a good time and I got to get a lot of my questions answered."
Dear reports that he got the inside scoop from returning slot receiver Jameon Lewis.
"He told me they he knew I would fit in up there and that I would enjoy playing up there.
"We talked about everything and he answered every question I had.
"I was glad that I got to talk with him."
In addition to chatting with the player who currently plays Dear's position of choice, the four-star was able to learn more about the men who would be calling his number should he elect to sign with Mississippi State.
"Coach (Billy) Gonzales was with another group, but he broke free to come talk to me," said Dear. "He told me how much he wanted to coach me and what all they were looking to do with me.
"It's big that he's there, because he coached the player that I want to be like (Percy Harvin).
"I talked with Coach (Dan) Mullen and he told me that I was his guy and about how bad he wants me up there.
"Coach Mullen said I was the player that he wanted and that he knew Mississippi State would be a great place for me."
While Dear reports that the Bulldogs are at the top of his list, he is not quite ready to pull the trigger on a verbal commitment.
"Mississippi State is up there," said Dear. "They have a lot of the things that I am looking for and they really want me up there.
"I am just not ready to make a decision yet.
"I am going to explore a little while longer and then I will see how things go.
"I know I like Mississippi State a lot right now."
