"I think I have thirteen offers now," said McBryde mentally counting as he spoke. "I wasn't really expecting all of this to happen, especially this early.
"It's all a blessing."
Growing up in the heart of SEC country, McBryde is on the recruiting radar of several programs in the conference where football is king.
"Having the chance to go play in the SEC is exciting."
McBryde is headed to Tallahassee to check in on Florida State this weekend, but the invitation to see the Seminoles is far from the only one the talented linebacker has received.
"Auburn is the only school that I have visited so far and it was good to go talk with the coaches," said McBryde. "It's a good school and it's a good opportunity.
"Mississippi State wanted me to come to their junior day, but I haven't been able to make it over there.
"They've offered me and they want me to come visit the campus.
"LSU has offered me and they want me to come and meet with the coaches and see the campus."
The hard hitting McBryde reports that he is doing his best to keep things on a level playing field while he considers his options, but that one program is already sticking out.
"I am trying to keep my options open, but I would have to say that Auburn has a little bit of a lead right now," said McBryde. "I am not ready to decide yet, but they are up there at the top right now.
"I would like to make a decision before my season starts, so I am going to see how everything goes this summer and then I will make my decision.
"I want to go somewhere that I have a good relationship with the coaches and that I just feel comfortable."
