Dorbeck Enjoying Early Recruiting Interest

As the spring evaluation period approaches, the 2015 in state talent pool in Mississippi is beginning to reveal more offensive line prospects with college potential. St. Aloysius big man Drake Dorbeck is a name of interest for several programs close to his home base of Vicksburg including the Bulldogs of Mississippi State. Dorbeck recently attended junior day in Starkville.

"It went good," said Dorbeck of the event. "They showed us around. We got to see the campus and talk to the coaches."

Dorbeck had the chance to have some interaction with Bulldog line boss John Hevesy.

"When we went into the positional meetings, I got to talk some with Coach Hevesy," said Dorbeck. "He told me that he wants me to come back in the spring to see them practice and that he wants me to come to a couple of their camps this summer."

So far the Bulldogs, Louisiana Tech, Memphis, Ole Miss and Southern Miss have all shown varying levels of interest in the 6-7, 303 pounder.

"Those are kind of the main schools right now," said Dorbeck. "Nobody has offered yet.

"Right now I am just getting letters, but I am planning to go to some camps this summer."

In addition to holding things down on the football field, Dorbeck is also a contributor to the St. Aloysius baseball program as a first baseman.

While the comparisons to current Diamond Dog Wes Rea are sure to come, Dorbeck's ticket to the next level may be on the gridiron.

"Everything I fill out, I put offensive tackle on," said Dorbeck. "I am just looking for a place where I have a great relationship with all of the coaches and I want to go somewhere that I can focus on my education too and not just football."
