Bulldog Pledge Nabs Another SEC Offer

Warren Central corner back Chris Stamps committed to Mississippi State shortly after the Bulldogs offered. Since that time, other programs have continued to pursue Stamps. Earlier this week, another SEC program extended an offer to the talented defensive back in hopes of getting him to give their program a solid look.

"I had talked with Coach (Derrick) Ansley from Kentucky and he told me that they were offering me," said Stamps. "We have talked a few times and he said that they wanted to get me up there."

Kentucky inked Stamps' cousin A.J. Stamps earlier this year, so Mark Stoops and his staff are hopeful that the family connection will give the Wildcats a solid in.

"A.J. is already enrolled up there and he likes it," said Stamps. "He told me that they have some good coaches there and he believes they are headed in the right direction."

Despite the pre-existing relationship between A.J. and Chris, it does not appear that a flip is brewing.

"It would be great to play with him again, but I have to consider my own options," said Stamps. "I have to make my own decision and do what is best for me.

"I am still committed to Mississippi State and things are still going good with them."

Stamps reports that his commitment remains in tact, but he does plans to take in some other trips.

"I am going to Southern Miss for their junior day," said Stamps. "I am going down there to see the campus.

"Besides that, I am just working on man to man coverage and getting ready for the season."
