Abram Enjoying In State Spike

Johnathan Abram is one of the top football prospects in the Mississippi pinebelt for the 2015 signing class. Abram spent most of his junior snaps lining up behind center, but will make the move to safety on the college level. Several schools have shown some level of interest, but an in state program appears to be setting the recruiting pace.

"I have been hearing a lot from Mississippi State, a whole lot," said Abram. "I just got home and I have two more letters from them.

"They want me to come up there this weekend to see spring practice with my family."

Abram reports that he will be making the return trip to Starkville to see how things go.

"I love the atmosphere up there at Mississippi State," said Abram. "I think that would be a good place to go to school.

"I am real serious about my academics and Mississippi State has a great engineering program.

"I am thinking about majoring in engineering and that is something else that is positive about Mississippi State."

The East Marion standout reports that he has spent some time talking with area recruiter Tony Hughes.

"I like Coach Hughes," said Abram. "He is telling me that they want to get me up there.

"They haven't offered me yet, but I hope that they do."

Abram reports that another pinebelt prospect has been aiding him in his search for college scholarship offers.

"Jamal Peters is one of my friends and he has sent my video to a bunch of schools," said Abram. "He sent it to Clemson, Florida State, Auburn and a few other ones.

"He said they told him that they liked it and that they were going to check me out.

"He is trying to help me and it would be good if we could end up playing together."

For now Abram is doing his part to help the East Marion Eagles on the baseball diamond.

"Things have been going good," said Abram. "I am playing short and we're 7-2 right now.

"I feel like we can have a good season.

"I am working hard in the weight room and I am going to be playing on this 7-on-7 team, the Mississippi Grind.

"I am pretty busy right now."
