Gray Prepared for Spring Practice

Despite being a year removed from high school, Donald Gray is preparing for his first college snaps. The Mississippi State commitment redshirted last season due to an ankle injury. Now on the road to recovery, Gray is eager to take the field and catch some footballs that impact that outcome of an actual game.

"Everything has been going pretty good," said Gray of his rehab. "I just started running without my ankle brace on.

"It was a little shaky at first, but I am able to run and cut on it without any pain.

"I am just trying to get everything right before the season starts."

Gray and the Wolfpack will begin their spring practice sessions in a few days.

"We have been doing some conditioning and doing a little pass skelly," explained Gray. "We have our first official practice on Monday.

"We feel like we can have a great season this year.

"We have a lot of experience coming back and we have some talented freshmen coming in.

"We believe we have a chance to go and compete for nationals this year and not just win a state championship or just go to a bowl game.

"We are working hard to get there."

Gray's 2014 season will be his only one in Wesson. The remainder of the talented wideout's career is expected to take place at Mississippi State.

"I am excited about getting up there soon and checking out a couple of the spring practices," said Gray. "Me and Darrion (Hutcherson) see each other every day and we're always talking about getting up there.

"I saw Jocq (Jocquell Johnson) before spring break. He came and saw us and he was telling us about everything.

"We were talking about what all we want to do at Mississippi State.

"We want to get Mississippi State on the map and have a chance to win an SEC championship and go chase a national championship up there.

"We can't wait to get up there and be together again."
