Bulldogs in the Mix Again With Jones

Defensive end Ulric Jones committed to Mississippi State out of Oxford High School (AL). The long, athletic edge protector ended up attending Butler Junior College last season. With a strong freshman campaign under his belt, Jones is now preparing for his final semester on the junior college level and once again the Bulldogs are a factor in his recruitment.

"Things have gone pretty good up here at Butler," said Jones. "We just had our first spring practice and everything is looking pretty good so far."

Jones was unable to gain NCAA clearance as a high school senior, but with a renewed commitment to academics, the talented defensive end is on track.

"I am going to be graduating in December, so I will be able to transfer for the spring," said Jones. "I am doing good in all of my classes now."

Mississippi State was able to earn Jones' verbal commitment for the class of 2013.

Dan Mullen and his staff are once again making a play for the Alabama native.

"I have offers right now from Mississippi State, Maryland, Utah State, UAB and Jacksonville State," said Jones. "Auburn is another school I am hearing from and there are a lot more who have been in touch with me.

"I committed to Mississippi State in high school and I am still liking them a lot, but I like some other schools too.

"I am just trying to take this process a day at a time and do what's best for me."

Maryland and Mississippi State are expected to get official visits from Jones at some point during the fall.

Those visits will be a big part of the process for Jones.

"I am planning to wait and make my decision after the season," said Jones. "I may go see some schools this summer, like Maryland.

"I know I want to visit Mississippi State during the season and then if some schools like LSU or Florida invite me to visit then I will see them after the season.

"I just want to take my time with everything and then make my decision in December some time."
