Cornell Plans Pre-Season Decision

You will have to forgive Jashon Cornell if it takes a minute or two to recount all that has happened to him in the recruiting process so far. The four star talent has received interest and offers from programs both near and far to his home base in St. Paul, Minnesota. The blue chip defensive end has a lot to consider between now and national signing day.

"I have 31 offers so far," said Cornell. "A couple of my most recent ones are Mississippi State and Texas."

Cornell took an unofficial visit to check in with the Bulldogs a few weeks ago and came away impressed.

"They have a nice campus at Mississippi State and I really like the facilities," said Cornell. "I like the coaches there a lot. They keep it real with you.

"The D line coach (David Turner) is recruiting me and we stay in touch on twitter a good bit.

"They are one of the schools I am considering."

The Longhorns and Cornell are just really beginning to feel each other out.

"I haven't talked to them the last couple of weeks, but I will probably take a trip down there before too long," explained Cornell.

The spring has been rather quiet for the 6-4, 245 pounder.

"We don't have spring football here in Minnesota, so I have just been training to get ready for the season," said Cornell. "I don't really have any trips scheduled right now.

"I get to fly for free, so if I really want to go somewhere I can do that.

"I am not sure where I am going to go for visits right now. I haven't really looked into any of that."

While a summer tour has not been scheduled, the clock is ticking on schools looking to make an impression on the talented Cornell.

"I want to make my decision before the beginning of my senior year," said Cornell. "I want to go somewhere that I have a great relationship with the coaches and then I want to see how long those coaches have been together.

"Academics are going to come first though, so I am looking into who all has a really good business school.

"I don't have any favorites right now. Everybody is still even."
