Smith's Stock is on the Rise

Trey Smith of Madison Central (MS) is an intriguing prospect. Smith has spent time at both running back and quarterback during his high school career and he has the versatility to play even more positions should the need arise. The best way to describe the athletic and explosive Smith is to simply call him a football player. The rising senior can do it all.

Trey Smith profile

"Most schools are talking about me mainly as an athlete," said Smith. "Some have talked about me playing running back or lining up as a slot receiver.

"Some other schools are talking about me playing defense.

"Everything is a little different with most of the schools.

"I just want to play, so I am open to everything right now."

Smith is not picky when it comes to his projected position and at this point in his recruitment he is interested in all of the schools who are interested in him.

"I have offers from Louisville, Mississippi State, Memphis, Troy, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana Tech and a couple of more," explained Smith. "I am getting a lot of interest from some other schools like Arizona and Florida State.

"Of the schools that have offered me, I am probably getting recruited the hardest by Louisville, Mississippi State, Louisiana-Lafayette and Memphis.

"I talk to a Coach from Louisville every couple of weeks and I get a lot of mail from Mississippi State.

"The other schools are sending me a lot of stuff too."

Smith is not ready to announce a pecking order when it comes to his favorites, his primary focus of the spring is Jaguar football.

"I am ready to see what our offense is going to look like," said Smith. "I am going back to quarterback this year, so I am ready to see how things go this spring.

"I feel like we could have a great season this year and I am ready to get started."
