Sweet Sixteen

Jonathan Calvin reports that his decision to attend Co-Lin was a pretty easy one once his time at Murrah High School in nearby Jackson, Mississippi was completed. A year into his time in Wesson, Calvin holds offers from college programs from around the country. With double digit offers in hand, Calvin holds a trio of schools as favorites.

"I have sixteen offers right now and it's exciting," said Calvin. "I am really excited about everything.

"It's been a lot of fun so far."

Calvin reports that it would take some doing to recount all of the schools who have shown some level of interest so far, but three programs are currently standing out to him.

"The top ones right now are Mississippi State, Auburn and West Virginia," said the 6-3, 265 pounder. "West Virginia was the first school to offer me.

"They saw me during the season and they offered back then.

"Auburn has been on my pretty hard and I already have a teammate up there, Xavier Dampeer. He has been telling me about everything up there and how much he likes it.

"I have been talking to Joc (Jocquell Johnson) at Mississippi State and he says they're doing good up there."

In addition to his former teammates, he is getting a lot of contact from the defensive line coaches from both Auburn and Mississippi State.

"I know Auburn is coming back down next Wednesday to see our spring game," said Calvin. "I have been talking to them a lot and they want to come see me play in person.

"I have been talking a lot with Coach (David) Turner at Mississippi State and he likes how athletic I am and how good I am at rushing the passer."

Calvin reports that his decision making process is on going and that he is considering making a decision prior to the 2014 football season.

"I am planning on making my decision at the end of the summer," said Calvin. "That might change though.

"I will just have to see things go.

"I want to go somewhere to play where I have a good relationship with everybody and I am still figuring all of that out right now."
