Wilson Commits to Mississippi State

Tupelo High School has been good to Mississippi State. By the same token, the Bulldogs have been good to the Golden Wave as well. With names like Chad Bumphis and P.J. Jones starring for the Bulldogs, Mississippi State fans are well acquainted with the level of talent Tupelo produces. Earlier today, Jarvis Wilson elected to follow in the maroon footsteps of his fellow Tupelo stars.

Jarvis Wilson profile

"Coach (Scott) Sallach called earlier and talked with him and they offered him," said Tupelo High School head football coach Trent Hammond. "They had him call Coach (Dan) Mullen and he committed.

"They had Coach (Tony) Hughes out here yesterday and they made the offer today.

"We're really proud for Jarvis."

Wilson reports that he did not need much time to make a decision.

"I committed right then," said Wilson. "As soon as they offered me, I told them I wanted to commit.

"I have been down there a few times and they always treat me like family.

"I am happy to have all of this done now.

"It's a lot of stress off of my back."

Wilson reports that he is being recruited to play safety and that his relationship with the Bulldog coaches was a big part of his decision.

"Coach Sallach and all of the coaches always treat me good when I go down there," said Wilson. "It just feels like home."

Wilson is the 11th verbal commitment towards the 2015 signing class and the seventh Mississippi high schooler to make the decision to join the Bulldogs' in state recruiting haul.
