Offensive lineman Dominic Desouza admits he was not quite sure what to expect when it came to his recruitment this year. As the spring semester comes to a close, the California native is approaching double digit scholarship offers from four year programs. Schools from all over the country have expressed varying levels of interest in the City College of San Francisco product.
"I have offers from Oregon State
, Western Kentucky
, Oklahoma State
and my newest one is from TCU
," said Desouza. "ASU (Arizona State
) and Ohio State
haven't offered yet, but they are both recruiting me hard and talking about offering."
With offers from several major conferences, Desouza has some thinking to do and that thought process may soon involve some options in the Southeastern Conference.
"I have heard from a few SEC schools like Georgia, Ole Miss, Mississippi State and a couple of others," said Desouza. "I would certainly be interested in an offer from an SEC school.
"I am from Pacifica, California, which is only about fifteen minutes from here.
"I would like to get out of California, because this is all I have known for eighteen years.
"I want to see some other things and see some other parts of the country."
Desouza's next college offer will bring his list of options to double digits.
While he admits to being a little taken off guard by the early spike in his recruitment, he reports the pace of things has not allowed for a lot of time for reflection.
"It has been pretty busy ever since the spring started," reported Desouza. "As soon as things really started, there have been a lot of schools showing interest.
"I don't really have any leaders right now and I am going to take my time and see what happens with the season.
"I am planning on making my decision after our season is over, so I have plenty of time to be sure about what I want to do.
"I am just looking for a good school with some good players and coaches where I feel comfortable."
