Durr Plans Delayed MSU Enrollment

Lashard Durr committed to Mississippi State just over a year ago. Unlike most of his 2014 Bulldog peers, Durr will not be enrolling with the class this fall. Despite a strong academic push as senior, Durr will be taking the junior college route with plans of joining the Mississippi State roster in 2016.

"It's pretty much official now," said Durr. "I am going to be going to Co-Lin this year.

"I am not sure when I am headed up there yet, but I will be there this summer."

Durr reports that he had his choice of junior college destinations, but felt that Co-Lin was the best place to take his talents.

"I like the coaches at Co-Lin and I really like the DB coach," said Durr. "I just feel like it's a good place for me and they have a good football team too."

While the Harrison Central standout is disappointed to be taking the scenic route through the junior college system, the three star corner remains loyal to the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

"I am still going to be going to Mississippi State," said Durr. "I know there may be some other schools that come after me, but Mississippi State has been with me since day one.

"I am going to work hard to get done at Co-Lin and then go to Mississippi State after next season."

While the reality of his college destination has set in, Durr has not spent his time sitting idly by waiting for the day to report.

"Last Saturday, I won the state championship in the 110 meter hurdles and in the 300 meter hurdles," said Durr. "We won the overall state title for 6A.

"I just smile when I think about it.

"I just can't believe that I'm a state champion, but I am."
