School's Out for Cooper

Deshon Cooper committed to Mississippi State before he ever set foot on campus. The talented linebacker and his family spent some time in Starkville after the Big Dawg camp last summer. Despite some other schools' late flirtations, Cooper remained loyal to his pledge to the Bulldogs. In a few short weeks, the Georgia native will call Mississippi home.

"Today was my last day of school," said Cooper. "I am done with everything now.

"I am graduating on Saturday."

Cooper will get a little time away from the classroom before he begins classes at Mississippi State, June 3rd.

While the three star backer will be off of the academic grind for a spell, he is not planning any vacations.

"I am going to be working out a lot these next few weeks," said Cooper. "I am on the workout the coaches sent me, but I am doing some other things on my own.

"I want to be ready when I get up there."

The Decatur, Georgia product reports that he gets the chance to talk Bulldog football on the regular.

"I talk to somebody from Mississippi State every day."

"I talk to somebody from Mississippi State every day," said Cooper. "I just talked to Coach (David) Turner last night.

"They are telling me that they are ready to get me up there.

"I have a good connection to some of the other players that are going up there too.

"We stay in touch every day and we're always talking about what all we're going to do when we get there."

Cooper is not sure what his role will be this fall, but he reports that he is prepared for a great year.

"I am ready to do whatever the coaches need me to do," said Cooper. "I am excited about the season.

"We pretty much have everybody coming back and we have some great players coming in with this recruiting class.

"I know it's going to be a really good year for us."
