"Mississippi State and East Mississippi Community College are recruiting me right now," said McGinnis. "Mississippi State invited me to their camp this summer. I plan on going to it. As far as any other (college) camps, I'm just going with the flow."
He has already unofficially visited Mississippi State and came away very impressed with MSU head coach Dan Mullen.
"(MSU) invited me to come up there and I got to meet Coach Mullen when my brother and me went up there," said McGinnis, who plays quarterback and wide receiver for his high school team. "I liked Coach Mullen. I thought that he was a really cool person. He wants to improve his players for the next level. And I really like that."
Mullen, during his one-on-one time with McGinnis, told him what he liked about him as a football player.
"He told me that he really liked my size and height for as young of a person as I am," said McGinnis, who played at 197 during the football season before losing 10 pounds during basketball. "He told me that I can just build onto it."
Although still very early in the recruiting process for the class of 2016 player, he already has an idea who he wants to play for on the collegiate level.
"I either want to go out of state and play for Texas or stay in-state and play for either Mississippi State or Ole Miss," said McGinnis.
