Kendell Jones has become quite the commodity.
He began the spring with a couple of offers and seemed like a prospect that could help himself with good practice and camp showings, and he did just that. The three-star Pinson (Ala.) Clay-Chalkville standout defensive end added weight and more than held his own at the Birmingham Nike Football Training Camp, where he was awarded an invitation to Nike's The Opening for his performance.
While recruiting has followed suit, as Memphis' offer this week made Jones a double-digit offeree, his focus is on the July event in Beaverton, Oregon.
"With spring over, I'm just getting ready for The Opening," he said. "But 10 offers feels great, all it does is give me more options."
A pair of extensions the 6-foot-4, 246-pounder holds continue to stand out above the rest, enough for him to admit that each school is in the best position for his eventual commitment at this time.
"Louisville was talking about their program and facilities recently, it sounds great, I should be visiting soon."
Though the two schools are at the top right now, a busy summer could change things for one of the Yellowhammer State's best. A camp schedule is not yet set in stone, but several SEC schools will host him on campus in the coming months.
For that reason and others, there is no rush in the recruiting process.
"I'm making a decision at the end of the season," he said.
