Waechter dislocated his shoulder in the second game of last season. He underwent surgery to repair his labrum in November. He wasn't cleared for contact until May 1.
"I think I did well considering the last time I was healthy was in early September," Waechter said of the Hawkeye event. "I felt like pass blocking was my best part. I'm still a bit behind in the weights compared to most guys so run blocking was not quite up to what it was last year. But that will come."
The 6-foot-5, 250-pound Waechter plays at Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn High in Hartley. He lines up on both sides of the ball there. Iowa is recruiting him on offense.
"The (Hawkeye) coaches all had good feedback (after the camp). They like how I've come back from surgery. They liked my athleticism a lot," Waechter said.
The Iowa staff told Waechter they would contact him this week to share more feedback on his camp performance and how they feel about him overall, he said. He wanted to find out how that conversation went before deciding on more camp stops.
