"This is my first time to visit Starkville and it's been amazing so far," said Moon, who is being recruited by MSU assistant coach Billy Gonzales. "The camp was awesome. All of the coaches have been awesome. I loved working with the line coach (John Hevesy). He's probably been one of the best that I have worked with, so far. He's a great coach and fun to work with."
He talked about some things that he learned while working with Hevesy.
"The offense at my high school runs the Wing-T, so I come to these type places to learn about the pass sets and the punches," said Moon. "He taught me what to do with my knees in pass-settings and the punches, things like that."
Mississippi State is one of several college camps Moon has or will attend this week.
"I went to Alabama's camp on Monday and I think I am going to Ole Miss Friday," he said. "That is it, I think."
He's using his camp experience to help him with his college choice decision.
"I would like to get a decision made soon," said Moon, who has offers from Georgia Tech, South Florida, Western Kentucky, Mississippi State, Jacksonville State and UT-Chattanooga and interest from Ole Miss and Florida State. "(And) coming to the camps is part of (the decision process) because coming to them is so important because you don't want to come to a place where you don't like working with the coach. You want (the place you attend) to have that family feel about it. You also want to go to a place where the fans are involved (in the games). But a lot of it for me is also academics."
While he's not ready to make his decision, something that might help Mississippi State recruiting-wise is one of MSU's newest commitments, quarterback Nick Tiano, who committed to Mississippi State Thursday after his camp experience.
"We are best friends," said Moon. "We don't play on the same team but we are best friends."
As for where Mississippi State now fits into his recruiting picture, Moon has moved them high up his list.
"This bumps them up really high," said Moon. "I've loved it so far. I'm coming back later (Thursday night) to watch them work out and spend some more time with the coaches."
