"I was already liking Mississippi State the most and then we went to the 7-on-7 tournament yesterday that just put the icing on the cake," explained Dear.
A frequent visitor to Starkville, Dear reports that he simply felt most comfortable on the Mississippi State campus.
"The main reason I committed to Mississippi State was because of the way that they made me feel every time I went over there," said Dear. "I got to talk with Coach (Dan) Mullen, Coach (Greg) Knox and Coach (Billy) Gonzales yesterday and they just made me feel like it was the right time.
"I am so glad to get this over with. This is a lot off of my shoulders."
Dear can play a number of positions, but appears to be set to continue the Bulldogs' strong recent run of slot receivers.
"I was talking about all of that with Jameon Lewis yesterday," said Dear. "He told me out of his own mouth that I would be a great fit for the offense and that Mississippi State would be a great fit for me."
Dear reports that he is now ready to focus his attention on Murrah High school football.
"I am done with all of this now and I can just focus on the season," said Dear. "Everybody has been calling me since I committed.
"I'm about to go in there and tell my mama that I committed.
"She knew I was about to do it, but I need to let her know it's official now.
"I know she's happy with my decision. We've talked about everything and I just feel like Mississippi State is the best place for me."
