"This was my first camp this summer," said Wood. "I go to the camps to get to know the coaches and see what the campus is like, to see if it would be a good environment for me to be in."
Next up for the talented youngster are four or five more camps.
"I also plan on going to Auburn, Ole Miss, Bama, Florida State and probably Georgia," said Wood.
According to Wood, Mississippi State made a big impression on him.
"I really like Mississippi State a lot," he said. "I like the coaching staff and I love the campus. It's like a homey campus. I could really go here because I like it a lot."
His recruiting coach is Mississippi State defensive coordinator Geoff Collins. Coach Collins worked Wood out at linebacker, so Wood got first-hand experience working with Collins. And he came away very impressed with him.
"I like him a lot," said Wood. "He's like a second dad to me. He told me that I did really good today. And he wants me to come back Wednesday. I hope when I come back I'll get an offer."
MSU is just one of many schools showing recruiting interest in the talented athlete.
"Mississippi State, Auburn, Bama, South Carolina, Clemson, Kentucky and Georgia are recruiting me," said Wood. "Several schools are showing strong interest in me including Auburn, Mississippi State, Kentucky and Georgia."
