Still State, So Far

Anthony Hines III picked up a half dozen scholarship offers in the past week. Those six are more than most of this peers around the country will have throughout their own recruitments. Despite the recent run on new options, Hines has not changed nor have his feelings about Mississippi State.

"I am still a solid commitment to Mississippi State," said Hines on Tuesday afternoon. "Nothing has changed with my commitment.

"I am in touch with them a good bit. Coach (Deshea) Townsend is the coach I am in contact with the most.

"We have a great relationship and my relationship with the coaches at Mississippi State is the main reason that I am committed to Mississippi State."

Hines recently added offers from Big 12 powers Baylor, Oklahoma and Texas Tech among others.

The future national 300 member has plans to visit Ohio State and South Carolina and possibly Mississippi State when the Bulldogs hold their Big Dawg camp next month.

"I am going to try to get out there for the Big Dawg camp," said Hines. "I went to camp there last year and I have been to some games last season, so I have already seen a lot.

"I am not completely sure I am going to be there for Big Dawg yet, but we're working on all of that now.

"I want to see the coaches and have the chance to work with Coach (Geoff) Collins again."

Hines reports that his impressions of his future position coach are extremely positive.

"Coach Collins is a great coach and he has some of the best linebackers in the nation playing for him," said Hines. "You can tell that they love playing for him and that he is doing a good job coaching him.

"I have seen him coach in camp and I have seen how he coaches in games, so I know what kind of coach he is.

"I know I would enjoy having him as my coach."

Hines currently holds 32 scholarship offers with more options expected over the course of the next year.
