Pettigrew explained why he chose to attend the Mississippi State camp.
"(Mississippi State assistant) Coach (Greg) Knox, my recruiting coach, really likes me and wanted me to come to this camp so he could look at me and watch me play," said Pettigrew.
He felt like he did ok during the camp.
"I think I did decent but I could have done better," said the rising junior. "I still have some more room to grow, so I still need to continue working."
While he felt like he could have performed better, he did feel like he learned some things from the coach he worked with during the Mississippi State camp.
"I loved working with their coach, (assistant) Coach (Billy) Gonzales," said Pettigrew. "He took it step-by-step with me and walked me through some things."
He also learned some things about Mississippi State during his first time to be on the campus.
"This was my first time to come to Mississippi State," he said. "I love it here. They have a very nice facility, very nice coaches who will work with you and help you get better."
Mississippi State was his second camp this summer but not his last.
"I also went to the Alabama camp, and I plan on going to Auburn, and LSU," said the Scout.com 4-star prospect. "I might sit down with my coaches and see if they might want me to go to some other camps such as Miami and Florida State."
He pointed out how he determines which camps that he will participate in.
"I decide what camps to go to based on how much interest the coaches show me because I want them to see me play and see what kind of person that I am," said Pettigrew.
A highly recruited tight end in the class of 2016, Pettigrew already has three scholarship offers.
"I already have offers from Louisville, Nebraska and Tulane," he said.
