Cards land big OL from Georgia

The University of Louisville football team landed a large commitment on Monday night. Mammoth offensive lineman Chandler Jones of Powder Springs, Ga., committed to U of L over Mississippi State and Syracuse. Cardinal Authority has the latest on Jones.

Powder Springs, Ga., McEachern offensive lineman Chandler Jones said the University of Louisville football program was his "leader" after a visit to campus in April.

The 6-foot-4, 310-pound Jones talked about a commitment then and several times since had been rumored to be close to committing.

On Monday night, Jones made the call. He picked the Cardinals over Mississippi State and Syracuse, giving U of L five commits in the Class of 2015 - including two from Georgia.

Jones is a three-star prospect in the Class of 2015 who also took visits to Mississippi State, North Carolina State and Tennessee.

Jones had more than 10 offers, including U of L, Mississippi State, Purdue, Michigan State, North Carolina State, Syracuse, Middle Tennessee, Marshall, Cincinnati, UMass and Georgia State.

Jones said in a recent interview he had a "great relationship" with the U of L coaches. He said he was in constant talks with the coaches and his teammate last season at McEachern - Henry Famurewa - is a freshman at U of L.

"We are really good friends," Jones said of Famurewa. "He's told me a little about the program, that they have really good players and the coaches are cool. He also loved the facilities and I liked them as well."
