Calvin Contemplates SEC Future

Jonathan Calvin did not expect things to be this complicated for him. Lightly recruited out of high school, the talented defensive end is approaching twenty offers as one of the top prospect at Co-Lin Community College. With a summer time decision approaches, Calvin is having a tough time breaking the tie between his final two, Auburn and Mississippi State.

"It's still pretty much how it has been," said Calvin. "I am still trying to decide between Auburn and Mississippi State.

"I have been on the road a little bit lately. I have been to LSU, Mississippi State, Alabama and Auburn."

Over the course of the past two weeks, Calvin has seen two friends, high school teammate Malik Dear and Farrod Green, the son of one of his Co-Lin coaches, commit to Mississippi State.

Calvin reports that he will make his own decision independent of others, but that some familiar faces could play a role in his deliberations.

"I haven't talked to them that much since they committed," said Calvin. "I am back at Co-Lin right now, but me and Malik talk.

"He's a friend of mine and we keep in touch with each other.

"I see Farrod from time to time around here."

In addition to making a decision about the next level, Calvin has been preparing for his next season in Wesson.

"We are going through workouts right now," said Calvin. "We've been doing a lot of running and lifting weights.

"We're trying to get ready and I feel like we're going to have a good season."

Before Calvin laces them up for the season opener, he plans to have made the call between the Bulldogs and Tigers.

"I know I am going to decide soon, but I am not exactly sure when," said Calvin. "I still have to figure some things out.

"I like Auburn and Mississippi State. I know I would do well at both of them.

"The bottom line is that I am trying to decide if I want to go out of state or not.

"That's really what I am thinking about right now.

"I know I am going to decide this summer, before the season starts.

"I am just thinking about everything and trying to decide what is best for me and my future."
