"It is a great opportunity for our team to build chemistry," said Burnett about his MSU camp experience. "And it gives the young guys a chance to play varsity basketball."
"During these type games you can work on things that you couldn't during the season. At first I didn't like pushing the ball up the court. But I now realize if the point guard is not around then I have to push the ball so that I can get into the offense better. That will also help me when the season comes around."
He and three of his teammates were able to meet with Mississippi State head coach Rick Ray after the camp. He talked about that experience.
"Meeting with Coach Ray in his office made us feel special," said Burnett. "He talked about working hard and keeping our grades up."
He left the Mississippi State camp with a very favorable impression of the Bulldog basketball program.
"I think Mississippi State is a great school and I would look forward to going there someday," said Burnett.
Mississippi State is one of several colleges recruiting the youngster.
"Tennessee State, Murray State and Mississippi State are interested in me," said Burnett, who will be going into his second season on his varsity team. " Richmond has offered me."
He's very proud of his first offer.
"The offer makes me realize that I have been doing good on and off the court," said Burnett. "It tells me that somebody is looking at me."
