Mixon Crossing State Lines for College

Shades Valley High running back Keith Mixon grew up watching Alabama and Auburn play. Now the three star standout will have the chance to play against them. Last night following a strong showing at Mississippi State's Big Dawg camp, Mixon elected to commit to the Bulldogs on what proved to be a historic recruiting day for Dan Mullen and his staff.

"I had a great time at the camp," said Mixon. "I worked some at running back and receiver.

"Coach Mullen told me to just swap back and forth, so they could see me at both positions.

"He told me that I sort of remind him of Percy Harvin.

"I think there going to wait and see where I fit in when I get up there.

"I could be a running back, a slot back or a receiver."

At the conclusion of the camp, Mixon let Mullen know he was ready to be a Bulldog.

"Coach Mullen was real excited and Coach (Geoff) Collins was all excited too," said Mixon "Coach Collins has done such a great job recruiting this area and we have some great players from Alabama going to Mississippi State now.

"I feel like the in state schools are sleeping on some of us.

"Now me and Maurice Smitherman and Nick Gibson are all going to Mississippi State together.

"I guess we can just show them that they were wrong about us when we get over there."

Mixon reports that he is happy to have the process behind him and that he is done camping for offers.

"I camped at Alabama earlier this week and I ran a 4.38 and I still didn't get an offer," said Mixon. "I went back to Mississippi State and it just felt like home and I was ready to commit.

"I was supposed to go to Auburn today for their camp, but I decided that I didn't want to go now that I have made my commitment.

"I am just going to be going to Mississippi State now and I am excited about that."
